is a prevention planning system involving "real-world approaches" to problems that face our youth today. This system (CTC) is based on PREVENTION, and is grounded in research from the fields of social work, sociology, psychology, education, public health, criminology, medicine, and organizational development.
With a focus on increasing Protective Factors (i.e. family involvement, academic success, healthy beliefs, and positive social skills) and decreasing Risk Factors (i.e. family conflict, academic failure, and anti-social behavior) most researchers agree that we can improve children's lives, and our school and community environments. CTC provides community-specific training and support to that end.
The CTC strategy of involving key leaders, using accurate data, and identifying priority risk and protective factors also creates a comprehensive planning system that will help to decrease duplication of efforts and increase community collaboration and funding potential.
In Pennsylvania, CTC is at the heart of the Community Partnership for Safe Children. Since this partnership was implemented, Pennsylvania's juvenile violent crime has dropped by more than 15%.
LCHIC is proud to be the CTC site for Lycoming County.
