Description: Williamsport/Lycoming Habitat for Humanity is a program that offers home ownership to low income families, based on need. We work to reduct poverty housing in Lycoming County by constructing decent, affordable homes, using donated resources and volunteer labor. Habitat houses are asold at no profit to partnering families and financed with no interest mortages. Habitat's criteria for selection of homeowners is based on three principles: a family's need for adequate shelter, the ability to pay a mortgage, and the willingness to partner with Habitat in the construction of their home. Homeowners are required to invest "Sweat Equity" hours in the construction process. Interested families are asked to contact the local Habitat office and sign up for the next Family Selection Workshop, held on a quarterly basis. Home completion takes 6-9 months.
