Description:
 (district court services) The Magisterial District Court handles approximately 4,500 cases per year. Summary traffic and summary criminal trials are conducted. Preliminary hearings are heard for misdemeanor and felony offenses. Bail is set in criminal matter. Civil trials for small claims up to $8,000 are heard at this level of court as well as landlord/tenant cases. The Magisterial District Courts in Pennsylvania handle from start to conclusion 90% of all court filings.
